Funeral services for Virginia Lee Farlow Mayfield, age 86, of Dallas, GA, will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM EST (1:00 PM CST) at Macedonia Baptist Church, (3920 County Rd 48, Ranburne, AL 36273) with Rev. Kris Henderson officiating and Benefield Funeral Home, Wedowee, AL in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends and family at the church beginning at 1:00 PM EST (12:00 CST) on Sunday before services begin.

Mrs. Mayfield passed away on Sunday, November 10, at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica, GA.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Mayfield of Dallas, GA; one daughter, Pamala Taylor (Morris) of Mableton, GA; four grandchildren, Stephanie Naclerio (Will) of Roswell, GA, Sean Taylor of Athens, GA, Jacob Mayfield (Emily) of Woodstock, GA, and Zachariah Mayfield of Gulf Breeze, FL; five great-grandchildren, Julia Naclerio, Natalie Naclerio, Jamie Mayfield, Mack Mayfield, and Ziva Mayfield.

A Cleburne County native, Mrs. Mayfield was born on February 19, 1938, the daughter of Tom F. and Evie Richardson Farlow.  She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Ranburne and later attended Davis Chapel in Austell, GA.  Mrs. Mayfield was always outgoing and never met a stranger anywhere she went.  She loved Jesus and her family. Mrs. Mayfield had a green thumb and loved growing flowers and plants of all kinds. She drove a Cobb County School Bus for 20 years. Then together with her husband, Jerry, she owned and operated Cumberland Child Care in Smyrna.  Jerry and Virginia were married for 70 years as of 1/4/2024.

Mrs. Mayfield was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Mike Mayfield; one brother, Earl Farlow; and six sisters, Essie Cole, Eva Cole, Myrtice Potter, Myrtle Bradbary, Geraldine (Jerri) Graham, and Betty Phillips.

Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to an Alzheimer’s or Heart Disease Foundation of one’s choosing.
