Obituary of Douglas Joe Franklin

Douglas Joe Franklin, age 73, of Wedowee, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Tanner Medical Center.

Survivors include: his wife, Sherrye Melton Franklin of Wedowee; two sons Justin David Franklin (Wendy) of North Carolina and Jason Scott Franklin of Wedowee; sister, Patty Franklin of Anniston; six grandchildren, Jessica Franklin, Caleb Franklin (Katelyn), Pvt. Joel Franklin, Hunter Franklin, Daisy Franklin, and Emma Ward; five great-grandchildren, Ryker Hunt, Ruger Hunt, Connor Franklin, Douglas Pinkard, and Jeffrey Pinkard; and special cousins, Tina Clifton Blalock and Myra Gaskins.

Mr. Franklin was born on August 11, 1951, the son of Willis C. and Margie Woodward Franklin.  He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam conflict and was Christian by faith. Mr. Franklin had worked as a machinist with Southwire and he loved his family very much.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ray Franklin.
