Obituary of Shirley Puckett Gray
Funeral services for Shirley Puckett Gray, age 77, of Alexander City, will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Donald Spradlin and Bro. Claude Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 AM – 2:00 PM on Wednesday before services begin.
Mrs. Gray passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Chapman Healthcare Center in Alexander City, Alabama.
Survivors include: two daughters, Lora A. Walker (Chris) of Carrollton, GA, Tabetha Akins (Gary) of Heflin; six sons, James G. Akins (Tracy) of Alexander City, Jamie Lee Akins, Johnny Fowler (Elaine) of Jasper, GA, Kenneth Fowler of Blue Ridge, GA, and Kim Fowler and Tommy Fowler, both of Ellijay, GA; 28 grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marvoline Holloway of Oxford, and Vanieca Akins (Dwight) and Sonya Rollins (Perry), both of Wedowee; and two brothers, Ben Milam (Sheila) and Tim Milam (Peggy), both of Wedowee.
Pallbearers will be Ezra Akins, Carter McGuire, Eric Cassiano, Kyle Cassiano, Tommy Holloway, and Deron Swint; Jaxson Cassiano will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
A Wedowee native, Mrs. Gray was born on February 11, 1947, the daughter of Cicero and Velma Milam Puckett. She was a member of Mt. Grove Baptist Church and worked as a seamstress for Premier Net. Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, James Akins and Dolan Gray; and one brother, Randy Milam.
