Obituary of Thomas "Joe" Bass

Graveside services for Thomas “Joe” Bass, age 67, of Woodland will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 12:00 noon at Bear Creek Methodist Church Cemetery with Bro. Jacob Wilkerson officiating and Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00-11:30 AM on Friday morning before services begin.

Mr. Bass passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.

Survivors include his wife, Kelly Bass of Woodland; three daughters, Amanda Lynn Hanner and Kristian Hanner, both of Roanoke, and Nancy Bass (Austin Knight) of Woodland; one son, Joe Lee Bass of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Brandon Trey Ennis, Samuel Hill, and Oaklie Reaves; one great-grandchild, Grayson Knight; one sister, Beverly Shellnut; and one brother, John Bass.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Tucker, Michael Tucker, Brandon Ennis, Christopher Hill, Jordan Reaves, and Austin Knight; Samuel Hill and Ronnie Smith will be honorary pallbearers.

A Franklin, Georgia native, Mr. Bass was born on February 3, 1957, the son of John T. and Nancy Bass Gable.  He was Christian by faith and worked as a sewing machine mechanic.  Mr. Bass enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and watching the show Gunsmoke.  He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Jimmie McManus; grandfather, Thomas Joe Lee Bass; and several aunts and uncles.
