Obituary of Henry Carroll Walls

Funeral services for Mr. Henry Carroll Walls, age 80, of Heflin, will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, August 2, 2009, from the Smyrna Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Rivers, Rev. Charlie Bolt, and Rev. Leron Murphy officiating. Mr. Walls will lie in state at the church one hour before the service. Burial to follow in the adjoining church cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2009. Mr. Walls died Thursday, July 30, 2009 at his home. Mr. Walls is survived by his wife, Florene Nolen Walls of Heflin; one daughter, Dawn Henson of Heflin; one son, Zachary McLeod of Seattle, WA; one sister, Geneva Winkles of Albertville; two grandchildren. Pallbearers will be his nephews. Mr. Walls was born April 5, 1929, the son of Silas Henry and Mary Jane Williamson Walls. He was a member of the Smyrna Baptist Church and had worked in construction. Mr. Walls was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mavis Walls, Ruby Maddox and Ruth Williams; two brothers, Dewey Walls and Ross Walls.
