Obituary of Woodrow Barto Crews

Obituary Notice Funeral services for Woodrow B. Crews, age 93, of Wedowee, will be held Tuesday August 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Eugene Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Crews passed away Saturday August 22, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Crews is survived by his wife Blanche Norred Crews of Wedowee, a daughter Hilda Story of Tuskegee, a son Norred Crews of Adairsville, Ga. two sisters, Naomi Bradley of Wedowee and Lottie Cofield of Newell. Four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Lon Simpson, Chet Story, Jeff Burger, Charles Johnson, Bobby Cofield and Chad Green. Mr. Crews was born November 22, 1915 the son of Smiley and Mamie Reaves Crews. He was retired from the Randolph County Road Department and a poultry farmer. He was a member of Union Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Cleveland, Dewey and Hershel Crews, four sisters, Hester Stewart, Daisy Williamson, Lessie Cofield and Mattie Johnson. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Wedowee from 5 till 8 PM on Monday August 24, 2009. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.
