Funeral services for John Lawrence Sheppard, age 76, of Wedowee will be held Tuesday January 12, 2010 at 1 PM from Pine Flat Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Thomas Knight and Bro. Henry Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Sheppard passed away Thursday January 7, 2010 at University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham. Mr. Sheppard is survived by seven daughters, Elizabeth Ann Robertson, Jerrie Marable, Brenda Goodwin, Lillie Robertson, Patsy Winston, Minnie Robertson all of Wedowee, and Mary Robertson of Roanoke, four sons, John Roy Robertson and Ray Robertson both of Wedowee, Victor Molden of Atlanta and Sanders Robertson of Roanoke, two sisters, Betty Hunter of Lineville and Josie Morgan of Roanoke, four brothers, Frank Sheppard of Chattanooga, Tn., Booker T. Sheppard of Wedowee and James Edward Sheppard and Willie Frank Sheppard both of Roanoke. Pallbearers will be Cedric "Ralph" Glenn, Warner Knight, Jessie Marable, Clifton Drummond, Sidney Marable and Chris Marable. Flower attendants will be nieces and friends of the family. Mr. Sheppard was born June 3, 1933 the son of Frank and Nora Bailey Sheppard, he was retired from the construction business and was a Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son James Alford Daniel, three sisters, Louise Cosby, Dorothy Ann Wilber and Geraldine Sheppard, two brothers, Hollis Sheppard and Roy Lee Sheppard, a grandson, Demetrus Robertson and a great grandson Anthony Lyn Higgins, Jr. Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of the arrangements.
