Obituary of Harold C. Deese

Obituary Notice Funeral services for Mr. Harold C. Deese, age 70, of Wedowee, will be held, Saturday, February 13, 2010, at 2:00 pm, from the Union Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Dempsey and Rev. Gene Robinson officiating. Mr. Deese will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010. Mr. Deese died, Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at East Alabama Medical Center. Mr. Deese is survived by two sons, James (wife Annette) Deese of Wedowee, Dwight (wife Wanda) Deese of Woodland; two sisters, Patricia Pate of Oxford, Cloris McCord of Oxford; two brothers, Wayne Deese of Oxford, Horace Deese of Anniston; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Greg Deese, Nick Deese, Pat East, Rex Whaley, Chris Smith, Rodney Pate and Jerry Deese. Mr. Deese was born, December 25, 1939, the son of Jim and Nettie Butler Deese. He was a member of Union Baptist Church and had been a fixer for Lee Brothers Brass Foundry. Mr. Deese was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Allen Deese; one daughter, Kathy Spears; one grandson, Keith Spears.
