Funeral services for Wade Richard Striblin, Jr., age 73, of Roanoke will be held Sunday March 28, 2010 at 2:00 p. m. from the Rocky Branch Baptist Church with Clayton Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at 9499 County Road 59 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2010.
Mr. Striblin died Friday, March 26, 2010 at his residence.
Mrs. Striblin is survived by one daughter, Debra Powell of Roanoke, one son Ricky Striblin of Roanoke, one sister Deona Rollins of Montgomery, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren
Pallbearers will be Larry Rollins, Jonathan Rollins, Vincent Taylor, Todd Striblin, Ted Striblin, Michael Gore, and Chris Smith. Honorary Pallbearer will be Jerry Rollins.
Mr. Striblin was born Dec. 23, 1936 to Wade Richard and Minne Lee Hancock Striblin in Randolph Co., AL. He retired from the Randolph Co. Board of Education as a Bus Driver.Mr. Striblin was a former member of the Alabama Army National Guard. He was also a member of the Randolph Co. Democratic Executive Committee, Tin Shop Volunteer Fire Dept., and a founding member of the New Hope Fishing Club. Mr. Striblin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley Faye Smith, three sisters Florence Striblin, Beulah Rollins, and Arrie Whaley, and three brothers Calvin, Henry, and Howard Striblin.
