Funeral services for Marvin Luther Spradlin age 89, of Woodland will be held Thursday April 1, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Mount Carmel Church of Christ with Mark Carpenter and Rev. Donald Spradlin officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery Mr. Spradlin passed away Tuesday March 30, 2010 at Wedowee Hospital. Mr. Spradlin is survived by one daughter Angie ( husband Dean) Wysner and one son Johnny ( wife Shelia) Spradlin both of Woodland, three sisters, Ruth Crenshaw of Woodland, Ann Turner of Mableton, Ga., and Jean Richardson of Merritt Island, Fl., five brothers, Donald Spradlin, Basil Spradlin, and William J. Spradlin Jr. all of Woodland, Wayne Spradlin of Lineville, and Prince Spradlin of Luray, Tn., twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. And a caretaker Terri Short. Active pallbearers will be Andrew Hall, Tanner Cook, Chad Wysner, Chuck Rice, Neil McCain, Lamar Scott, Ken Spradlin and Bobby Crenshaw. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons. Mr. Spradlin was born May 12, 1920 the son of William Jesse and Lola Prince Spradlin, he was retired from Franklin Aluminum as a security guard, he had served in the United States Army, and was a member of Mount Carmel Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 66 years, Earla Bailey Spradlin, a daughter Shirley Rice, a granddaughter Lori Wysner, a grandson Dan Spradlin and three brothers, Horace, Ira and Winston Spradlin. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee on Wednesday March 31, 2010 from 5 till 8 PM. Mr. Spradlin will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.
