Obituary of Franklin Delano Powers

Obituary Notice Funeral services for Franklin D. Powers, age 71, of Roanoke, will be held Sunday, June 13, 2010, from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Brian Moore and Rev. Bobby Burroughs officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2010. Mr. Powers died Friday, June 11, 2010 at East Alabama Medical Center. Mr. Powers is survived by his wife, Joyce Whitman Powers of Wedowee; two daughter, Lori (husband James) Barrett of Roanoke, Sandi (husband Robert) Burroughs of Auburn; two sons, Robert (wife Paige) Powers of Anniston, Ronnie (wife Ellen) Powers of Roanoke; two sisters, Geri Carter of London, KY, Janet Snyder of Corbin KY; two brothers, Fred and Caleb Powers both of San Antonio, TX; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Robert Nicholson, Chris Blankenship, Brian Nicholson, Clint Hill, Reese Wells and Donnie Hinkle. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Mr. Powers was born, September 11, 1938, the son of William and Cora Davis Powers. He was of the Baptist faith, founder of Oxford Pool Center as well as Leisure Whirlpools, Inc. where he retired in 1993. Mr. Powers also served in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents.
