Funeral services for Rev. Leford Edward Waters age 87, of Wedowee will be held Monday June 21, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Pilgrims Rest Baptist C hurch with the Reverends Wayne Pike, J.D. Bearden, and Billy East officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley Grove cemetery. Rev. Waters passed away Friday June 18, 2010 at his home. Rev. Waters is survived by his wife Evelyn Virginia Waters, four daughters Glenda Leverl Watson of Wedowee, Lendia Gail (Harold) Hall of Jacksonville, Gleisa (Alvin) Ginn of Franklin, GA, and Gloria (Truman) Morrison of Wedowee, one stepdaughter Renee (Jim) Lowe of Winter Haven FL, two sons Gary Lee Waters and Gunney (Jane) Waters both of Wedowee, two stepsons Randall (Rita) Lipham and Rodney (Janice) Lipham both of Lakeland, FL, twenty three grandchildren, thirty eight great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, three nieces and two nephews. Active pallbearers will be Tal Morrison, Lee Waters, Kyle Waters, Rod McRae, David Roberts, Reco Sims, Phil Cast, and Tonda Benefield. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Stone, John Bell, Scott Hanna, James Cavender, Stanley Bennett, Novie Hill, Herman Hill, Sam Marshall, Dwight McKinny, Wendell Waldrop, Clyde Waters, Eddie Creed, James Pinkston, and William Hill. Rev. Waters was born January 28, 1923 the son of Dolan Edward and Etta Waters. He was retired from the Blue Mountain Cotton Mill. He was a member of New Hope West Baptist Church. Rev. Waters was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Verlin Waters, one Grandchild Meloney Waters Morrison, three Great grandchildren Justin Benefield, Noah Benefield, Autumn Benefield, and Son-in-law Frank Watson. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee on Sunday June 20, 2010, from 5:30 till 8 PM. Rev. Waters will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.
