OBITUARY Funeral service for Mr. Billy Pat Ayres, age 75, of Heflin will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Pinetucky Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Tripplett, Rev. Vann Williamson and Rev. Billy Morris officiating. Mr. Ayres will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5-8pm on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the funeral home. Mr. Ayres died Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Northeast Regional Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Janice Bain Ayres of Heflin; one daughter, Tina (husband Clifford) Mize of Heflin; one son, Billy G.(wife Charlotte) Ayres of Heflin; six sisters, Betty Murphy of Newell, Mary Williams of Birmingham, Carolyn Wright of Birmingham, Polly Ward of Ranburne, Shirley Prater of Heflin, Linda Crosson of Heflin; seven grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Haley Smith, Erin Ayres, Anna Ayres, Tony Mize, Layne Mize, Harleigh Mize. Pallbearers will be Matthew Smith, Clifford Mize, Roger Prater, Johnny Bain, Phil Chasse and Charlie Williamson. Mr. Ayres was born, September 23, 1934, the son of Wilburn and Jessie McCord Ayres. He was a member of Pinetucky Baptist Church, had been an equipment operator for Randolph County Commission, served in the United States Air Force where he retired after twenty years of service. Mr. Ayres was preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild, Andrew Ayres. Flowers will be accepted or donations to Pinetucky Building Fund.
