Obituary Notice Funeral services for, Mr. Guy Paul Dunnavant, age 86, of Wedowee, will be held Saturday, September 25, 2010, at 11:00 am, from the First Baptist Church with Rev. David Sawyer officiating. Mr. Dunnavant will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Rev. Robert Creel will officiate the graveside service 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Old Tabernacle Cemetery in New Brockton, AL with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010. Mr. Dunnavant died Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Russell Medical Center. Mr. Dunnavant is survived by his wife, Myra Wilson Dunnavant of Wedowee; one daughter, Paula D. Malone of Wedowee; one son, Todd W. Dunnavant, PHD and wife Valerie of Houston, TX; one sister, Irene and husband Pete Jones of Pensacola, FL; two grandchildren; E. Rob Malone, Patricia S. Lockhart; one great grandchild, Anna Lockhurt Marchese. Pallbearers will be church deacons, Mike Parker, Tim Coe, Vernon Lipham, Brian Cross, Robert Kicker and Forrest Phibbs. Mr. Dunnavant was born, April 7, 1924 to Wayne and Madge Hardwick Dunnavant. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Wedowee, a Mechanical Engineer for the Department of the Army, and served in the United States Navy during WWII and Korean Wars. Mr. Dunnavant was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made toe the First Baptist Building Fund.
