Obituary Notice
Funeral services for Lewis Lane Steed age 87 of Wedowee will be held Saturday October 23, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Morrison Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. Frank Rasbury officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Steed passed away Wednesday October 20, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Steed is survived by his wife, Mildred Hall Steed of Wedowee, a son Phillip Lane Steed of Wedowee, a sister Margaret Steed McCaghren of Bowden , Ga., two grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Wortham, Jackie Wortham, Gerald Huddleston, Wendell Morrison, Lynn Bain and Ken Steed.
Mr. Steed was born May 11, 1923 the son of Fedrick Cleveland and Lucy Lewis Steed, he was retired from Anniston Army Depot, he was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy, and a member of Morrison Chapel United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home - Wedowee on Friday October 22, 2010 from 4:30 till 8 PM. The body will lie in state one hour at the church prior to services.
