Obituary Notice
Funeral services for Willis C. Franklin, age 89, of Wedowee, will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 5, 2011, from Iduma Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Jimmy Brand and Rev. David Waldrep officiating. Mr. Franklin will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2011.
Mr. Franklin died January 3, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Franklin is survived by his wife, Marjorie Inez Woodard of Wedowee; one daughter, Patti Ruth Franklin of Wedowee; two sons, Douglas Joe (wife Sherrye) Franklin of Wedowee; Quinton Ray (wife Donna) Franklin of Wedowee; three sisters, Willie Dean Clifton of Wedowee; Mozella Clifton of Woodland; Magdalene Gentle of Abbyville; one step-sister, Francis Patterson of Abbyville; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Woodard, Jeremy Franklin, Justin Franklin, Jason Franklin, Kerry Whaley and Brandon Yarbrough.
Mr. Franklin was born, June 8, 1921, the sons of R. C. (David) and Lillie Mae Yarbrough Franklin. He was a member of Caver's Grove Christian Church, a retired heavy equipment operator for Anniston Army Depot, served in the United States Army during WWII.
