Obituary Notice
Funeral services for Jimmy Alton Driver age 70 of Roanoke
will be held Friday March 11, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Big Springs Baptist Church
with Rev. Scott Whaley and Rev. Steve Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow
in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Driver passed away Wednesday March 9, 2011 at East
Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.
Mr. Driver was survived by his wife Dewodia Driver of
Roanoke, a daughter Kim ( Phillip) Sledge of LaGrange, Ga., three sons Phillip
( Marie) Gay of newell, Randy ( Debra) Gay of Roanoke and Joey ( Carol) Gay of
Woodland, one sister Faye Jones of Birmingham, seven grandchildren Lane Shane,
Justin, Wesley and Kody Gay, Adam and Landon Sledge, and eight great
grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be grandchildren. Honorary
pallbearers will be members of the Big Springs Baptist Church Mens Sunday
School Class.
Mr. Driver was born June 6, 1940 the son of Bascom Otis and
Thelma Todd Driver. He was retired from the State of Alabama Highway
Department, and he was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded
in death by his parents, a brother Otis Driver and a sister Louise Driver.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home-
Wedowee on Thursday March 10, 2011 from 5 till 8 PM. The body will lie in state
at the church one hour prior to services.
