Obituary Notice
Funeral services for Elsie Leigh Herren age 98 of Newell will be held Wednesday July 13, 2011 at 6:00 PM at Harmony Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Bob Traylor, Rev. Ridley Herren and Donna Maner officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Herren passed away Monday July 11, 2011 at Clay County Nursing Home.
Mrs. Herren is survived by one daughter Joanne Blanks of Woodland; two sons Paul Herren and Billy Herren both of Newell; two sisters Claris Norton Marietta, Ga. and Emma Lou Johnson of Bowden, Ga.; Eight grandchildren Deborah Traylor, Delores Rush, Donna Maner, Mark Herren, Lisa Herren, Susie Head, Mack Herren and Grover Herren. Eleven great- grandchildren and seventeen great- great- grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Mrs. Herren was born April 28, 1913 the daughter of J. N. and Georgia Treadwell Crawford. She was a homemaker and a member of Harmony Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Grover W. Herren, a granddaughter Laurie Herren, four sisters Lois Johnson, Dorothy Strickland, Eula Mae Holliday and Mildred Butler; two brothers Loy Crawford and Howard (Jack) Crawford.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home on Tuesday July 12, 2011 from 5 till 8 PM.
