Obituary Notice

Funeral services for, Rev. Ray Franklin, age 57, of Wedowee ,will be held, 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 25, 2011, from the Mt. GileadCommunity Church with Rev. Jimmy Brand, Rev. Vernon Willis, Rev. Larry McDanieland Rev. Gary Baswell officiating. Mr. Franklin will lie in state one hourbefore the service at the church. Burial will follow in Highway CongregationalMethodist Church Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge ofarrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 24,2011.

Rev. Franklin diedSunday, October 23, 2011, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center.

Rev. Franklin is survived by his wife, Donna McDanielFranklin of Wedowee; two daughters, Mandy Whaley of Roanoke, Casey Yarbrough ofWoodland; one son, Jeremy Franklin of Wedowee; mother, Marjorie Franklin ofWedowee; one sister, Patti Franklin of Wedowee; one brother, Douglas Franklinof Wedowee; six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Franklin, Kerry Whaley, BrandonYarbrough, David Franklin, Jason Franklin and Al McDaniel. Honorary pallbearerswill be the deacons of Mt. Gilead.

Rev. Franklin was born, October 29, 1953, the son of WillisC. and Marjorie Woodard Franklin. He had been a pastor for 32 years, a member and pastor of the Mt. Gilead Community Church for 16 years and a diesel mechanicfor Thompson Tractor. Rev. Franklin was preceded in death by his father.
