I learned of Buford's passing today at around 7:30PM Pacific Time. My nephew Jaron Faulknor called...you see I had recently sent him a collection of the Swanee River Boys' CDs from 1939 to 1971, plus a CD of Buford's Trio consisting of him, Dot and Pam. Buford and his family were always a great blessing to me when I lived in Kokomo, Indiana during the late 50's and early 60's...my first exposure to singing in church was with some of Buford's songs. I had so hoped to see him, Dot and Pam during our planned visit to the southeast part of the country in October 2012. At least I got to speak with him on the phone earlier this past summer. God must have a very, very special place for Buford as his songs and voice made everyone who read and heard the words and music so, so happy. I feel so blessed to have known Buford and his family, especially during my formative teen years. My prayers and condolences to Dot and Pam, may you only remember the wonderful years he was with you and the joy he brought to all. Love, Clinton Jr.

This is from my mom and dad, (Carl and Becky's son Jr.) When we meet on the other side of Jordan, Oh what a happy day it will be! We are so blessed to be a part of this great family and I know they are all grathered around the paino singing "Shall we gather at the River" or any number of old time favorite hymns. It won't be much longer and we'll see you again. Praise the Lord, we are coming HOME.

I can't begin to tell you how much the Abner family means to me. So you will just have to know how much I love you... I can't imagin another family being as good, as fun, as GODly as this one. I am so proud that my roots are so strongly grounded in the Christian faith. That is in part because two young men, heard the call and followed the LORD by sharing the music that God himself wrote in their hearts. If only the kids of today could could truly see the richness of the old time Gospel music. See I don't reminisce on the pop, rock, soul, whatwere music of my youth. I long for the times at the old church in Wedowee with the long cement tables and food on every inch of them. And family that had Gospel Quartets and family that lead songs from the hymnals. Those are the strings of my heart, that pull and tug at my heart, keeping me from drowning in this world. Oh Christians have some music that I really do like, but I don't believe it is sang as heartfelt as what I grew up with. I thank God everyday for the Abners, the East, and all the others. My blessed Assurance comes to me because of the likeness of you, because you are the likeness of Jesus. This family has been the light that this sailor holds to, and I believe what has lead me to the LORD. Kept me beside Him and will hold me for evermore. Thank you for living the life of truth and love for all to see. Love you so much, please call on me if there is anything you need. Love you!

I an so saddened to hear that Buford has gone home. Saddened for me but happy for him. I discovered the Swanee River Boys sometime in the 1980's and was thrilled when I was abler to locate Buford and Ms Dot in Indiana. I spoke with him by phone and learned that they were re-locating to Alabama in the near future. My visits to their Wedowee home were always special and a source of great joy for me as Buford and Dot were wonderful story tellers and I was mesmerized by their history. God Bless the family and all those who will miss Buford. He lives on thru his wonderfful music.
