Obituary Notice Funeral services for Marie Johnson age 83 of Newell will be held Monday March 5, 2012 at 2:00 PM from Union Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Wysner and Rev. Larry Cosper officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Mrs. Johnson passed away Saturday March 3, 2012 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. Mrs. Johnson is survived by three daughters Margie ( Larry) Cosper of Wedowee, Judy ( Dale) Meadows and Jane (Tracy) Lipham both of Woodland; three sons Jack ( Cynthia) Johnson of Woodland, Joe Johnson of Newell and Barry ( Becky ) Johnson of Roanoke; one sister I. V. Sheets of Wedowee; two brothers Durwood Williamson of Newell and Lendle Williamson of Roanoke; fourteen grandchildren, twenty -five great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Mrs. Johnson was born June 21, 1928 the daughter of Leonard and Flossie Boggs Williamson. She was retired from Breman-Bowden Investment Company as a seamstress. She was a member of Union Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wiley B. Johnson, a son Benny Johnson, two infant sisters, two sisters Jewell Wilson, Willie Mae Treadwell, three brothers William, Billy Ray and Marshall Williamson. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home- Wedowee on Sunday March 4, 2012 from 4 till 8 PM. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.
