Obituary Notice
Funeral services for Parilee Nix Higgins age 94 of Wedowee will be held Saturday June 2, 2012 at 2:00 PM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Holcombe officiating. A private graveside service will follow at Valley Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Higgins passed away Thursday May 30, 2012 at Traylors Nursing Home.
Mrs. Higgins is survived by two daughters Sarah Vinson of Easley, S.C. and Brenda Johnson of Birmingham; one son Gerald Higgins of Roanoke; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Mrs. Higgins was born March 6, 1918 the daughter of John William and Mandy Craven Nix. She was a self-employed homemaker and a member of Bethel West Baptist Church. She loved God, her church, her family, her community and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard Higgins, a son Cherl Higgins, four sisters Cora Nix Duffey, Ida Nix Haynes, Rethea Nix Brady and Ethel Nix Blanchard; four brothers Cain Nix, Bryant Nix, Henry Nix and Cecil Nix.
The family will receive friends on Friday June 1, 2012 at Benefield Funeral Home- Wedowee from 5 till 8 PM.
