Obituary of Victor F. Ward, Jr.

Obituary Notice Funeral services for Victor F. Ward, Jr., age 65 of Roanoke, will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 9, 2012, from Welcome Home Baptist Church with Rev. J. D. Bearden officiating. Mr. Ward will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Friday, June 8th. Pallbearers will be Shane Gilland, Viron Cantrell, Joey Rice, Kenan Gosdin, Blain Gosdin and Ronnie Watson. Mr. Ward died Sunday, June 3, 2012 at his home. Mr. Ward is survived by one daughter, Jennifer (husband Mithat) Venice of Detroit, MI; two sons, Terry (wife Amy) Bennett of Roanoke, Travis (wife Stephanie) Ward of Ashville, NC; three sisters, Vesta (husband Ronnie) Watson of Sylva, NC, Lisa (husband Pete) Carson of Leeds, Judy Odum of Winterhaven, FL, Selena Hardin of Andrews, NC; one brother, Henry Ward of Wansea, IL; father-in-law, James Watson of Roanoke; mother-in-law Jimmy May Garza of Franklin, GA; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild. Mr. Ward was born May 16, 1947, the son of Victor F. Ward, Sr. and Martha Poe Ward. He was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church and had worked as a truck driver for J. B. Hunt.
