Obituary of Clyde Waters

Funeral services for Clyde Waters, age 77, of Heflin will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Union Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Halsey officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Masonic graveside services and Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, March 3, 2017. Mr. Waters will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Saturday. Mr. Waters passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Annie Waters of Heflin; one daughter, Fredia Daniel (husband, Mike) of Newell; three sons, Freddie Waters (wife, Regina) of Waco, GA, Franky Waters (wife, Leslie) of Newell, and Teddy Blake Waters of Heflin; six grandchildren, Wayne Hammond, Catherine Bhagat, Christie Wilson, Carla Waters, Tisha Money, and John Daniel; other special grandchildren, Tonya Prestridge, Sherry Rice, Jasmine Redington, and Jason Yearta; seven great-grandchildren, Will McManus, Trent Waters, Jessica Money, Brady Thompson, Charlie Hammond, Kenadie Wilson, and Adriane Wilson; and one sister, Mary Alice Knight (husband, Jerry) of Oxford. Pallbearers will be Wayne Hammond, John Daniel, Justin Whaley, Ricky Waters, Eric Dye, Ethan Fowler and Wayne Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Cofield, Jerry Crow, Billy Edwards, Billy Cofield, and Chris Hill. A Randolph County native, Mr. Waters was born on March 8, 1939, the son of Silvey and Alice Teague Waters. He was a member of Union Baptist Church and was self-employed. Mr. Waters served in the National Guard and was a member of Sawyer Lodge #93 F&AM. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Frederick Waters; one sister, Margaret Waters; one brother, Darson Waters; and one infant brother, Jimmy Fred Waters.
