Graveside services for Rev. Lendon Winford Fields, age 86, of Wedowee will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Rocky Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Tim Craft and Bro. Matt Browning officiating and Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Rev. Fields passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at his home.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mary Waites Fields of Wedowee; two sons, Jeff Fields and Joey Fields (Sharon), both of Wedowee; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Rachel Richardson of Roanoke; a brother, Ray Fields of Woodland; niece, Susan Cofield (Troy) of Roanoke; and nephew, Kenny Fields (Sandra) of Woodland.

Pallbearers will be Mike Fields, Joey Cofield, Tim Koon, Rick Moon, Cody Nelson, and Shane Nelson.

A lifelong Randolph County resident, Rev. Fields was born in Troup County, Georgia, on March 8, 1937, the son of Tommy and Gladys Townsend Fields.  He was a United States Army veteran and a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church.  Rev. Fields was a pastor for many different churches during his time serving the Lord.  He also worked as a fixer at Sewell’s Manufacturing, worked at the Randolph Farmer’s Co-op, and drove a truck for Blossman Gas during his career.  Rev. Fields was preceded in death by his parents; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Fields; and a brother-in-law, Billy Richardson.
