Obituary of Donie Elizabeth Green

Funeral services for Donie Elizabeth Stone Green, age 81, of Wedowee will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Chapel.  Burial will follow at Union Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday, January 29, 2024.

Mrs. Green passed away Thursday at Roanoke Healthcare in Roanoke, Alabama.

Survivors include: one daughter, Leaundrea Green of Wedowee; one son, Frederick Green of Wedowee; one stepdaughter, Janet Baker of Roanoke; special friend, Erica Jackson of Carrollton, GA; one sister, Mattie McDowell of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Grady Stone of Peachtree City, GA; and three sisters-in-law, ­­­­­­Naconia Roberson of Cincinnati, OH, Jean Green Ware of Wedowee, and Odella Stone of Decatur, GA.

A Tallapoosa County, Alabama native, Mrs. Green was born on December 1, 1942, the daughter of J. C. and Betsy Elizabeth Rowe Stone.  She was a member of United Chapel Methodist Church and worked as a presser for Bremen-Bowdon Investments before retiring.  Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred Lewis Green; one sister, Jessie Lee Stone Herring; and two brothers, J. D. Stone and Haywood Stone.

Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to Benefield Funeral Home to go towards final expenses.
