Funeral services for Doris B. Cavender, age 77, of Heflin will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Wallace Higgins and Bro. Scott Jordan officiating.  Burial will follow at Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:30-8:00 PM on Sunday, January 28, 2024.

Mrs. Cavender passed away Friday, January 26, 2024, at UAB Palliative Care in Birmingham.

Survivors include: two daughters, Laura Glasgow (Tiras) of Heflin, and Amanda Williamson (Jeremy) of Opelika, AL; one son, Mark Cavender (Tonya Smith) of Heflin; eight grandchildren; Amy, B. J., Lee, Hannah, Alyssa, Enslee, Ashley, and Kendrea; five great-grandchildren, Grace, Kaleigh, Christopher, Hayden, and Makayla; four sisters, Minnie Lee McCormick, Jeanette Cantrell, and Mildred Bearden, all of Heflin, and Sharlene Hightower of Carrollton, GA; one brother, Cleophas Bearden of Carrollton, GA.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Williamson, B. J. Glasgow, Lee Glasgow, Hayden Glasgow, Christopher Camp, and Ricky Cavender.

A Heflin native, Mrs. Cavender was born on April 26, 1946, the daughter of William David and Amy Smith Bearden.  She was a member of Pinetucky Baptist Church and was a homemaker.  Mrs. Cavender was preceded in death by her husband, W. Joel Cavender, her parents, five sisters and two brothers.

Memorials may be floral.
