Tom was a very special man to me and was a big influence on the person I am today. As my step-father of many years, he earned the title "Daddy Tom". He will be missed.

The last time Mr. Tom came to the Rev. Com. office, he told me that he had made peace with God and knew that Jesus was his Lord & Savior. I rejoiced with him--he was so happy. I have many wonderful memories of Mr. Tom that I will always cherish. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Gita & Kenneth Spratlin

Grand Dad, You will be missed by all because you were loved by all. I have so many memories of you and our family that there are to many to tell here, but I will tell them to your great grand children and so on to keep your memory alive. You were a great Grand Father and a great friend whenever I needed you. You have never turned me away or made me feel I didn't deserve your love. I know you know that I love you, but still it never hurts to say it again. I LOVE YOU GRAND DADDY! Until we meet again...

It's difficult to move on when you know they're gone ... gone beyond our reach, leaving this mortal world behind. But they have left us memories that no one can take away, memories that will bring forth a smile and conquer the painful tears. It is time to remember them smiling, till we see them next in heavenly bliss.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all,
Love Dolores

Uncle Tom's family is in our prayers. May God be glorified in the testimony he had while he was on earth and change lives with the legacy he leaves behind.

I remember Uncle Tom's great smile and fun spirit. I remember when my sister and I drove up to NY for Karens wedding we stopped and picked up Uncle Tom in GA he helped drive us to NY. although that was 20 or more years ago when I think of Uncle Tom I think of his warm smile and his kind Shafer eyes. My sincerest sympathy to the family . I hope that in some small way knowing that our thoughts and prayers are with you will help you at this time of sorrow.

I have great memories of Tom and our growing up years in Oakdale, In 1943 moving to a 300 acre farm in Greene NY and lots of work , our dad was sick but loved to take us to Auctions. In 1953 Tom and I joined the army together, trained at Fort Dix. Tom my brother Tom was not a early bird getting him up for role call was a challenge at first but we made it . After the army days our lives took many turns but the greatest turn for all of Ethel and Floyds six kids at different times has been the transforming power of Jesus. I am looking forward to a reunion in heaven. Aunt Edie and I send our love, understanding to each of you. Uncle Don

I have so many memories of Uncle Tom, as a young girl the family would come and visit us on Foster Hill. He would give us all a big bear hug and always told us how much he loved each of us. Uncle Tom was very special, we shared our motorcycle experiences and how much we loved our dogs. He never judged us for any of the choices we made in life he would listen and look down, shake his head and sigh. He may share his experience but never judge. I will miss you even though we didnt see you much you were always in my thoughts and prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with Uncle Tom's family. I too, was thinking about the fact that he and my two cousins traveled all the way up to NY 27 years ago for my wedding! What great memories. I'm so glad to know that someday I'll see him again in Heaven.

One day about a year ago, Uncle Tommy came to Birmingham for treatment at the V.A. hospital. We had lunch together by Star Lake. Uncle Tommy told us how God used his cancer to cause him to run to Jesus. He described how Jesus changed his heart from the inside out. He wanted all his family to know for themselves the peace and joy and forgiveness that he had experienced by trusting Jesus as his Savior.
When we went to see Uncle Tommy in the hospital, we were not able to see him because he was already being sedated for treatments. That visit in Birmingham was the last time we saw Uncle Tommy.
It was an honor to be with all of you in Uncle Tommy's family for the funeral. Our hearts and our prayers stay with you.
