Funeral services for Marty Lynn Starkey, age 72, of Wedowee, will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015, at 2:00 PM from Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Corky Addison and Rev. Ricky Emery officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, October 22, 2015. Mr. Starkey passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015, at East Alabama Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Pamela Abner Starkey of Wedowee; three daughters, Amanda Starkey of Pittsboro, IN, Aandrea Orange of Pittsboro, IN, and Whitney Wilson of Brownsburg, IN; three sons, Craig Starkey of Danville, Indiana, Wade Chisham of Indianapolis, IN, and Drew Chisham of Noblesville, IN; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Abner. Pallbearers will be Craig Lynn Starkey, Wade Chisham, Drew Chisham, Patrick Mize, Kyle Akers, and Jordan Starkey. An Indianapolis, Indiana native, Mr. Starkey was born on April 8, 1943, the son of Edward and Dovie Hankins Linamen Starkey. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and retired from Allison’s/General Motors as a foreman. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Barbara Diekoff; one brother, Raymond Starkey; and his father-in-law, James Buford Abner.
