                Obituary

Funeral services for Jerry Martin Wortham, age 68, of Wedowee will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Iduma Congregational Methodist Church with Bro. Jonathan Hannah officiating.  Burial will follow at Pineywoods Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Benefield Funeral Home. Mr. Wortham will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services beginning.

Mr. Wortham passed away Monday, September 21, 2020, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia.

Survivors include: his wife, Regina Wenzel Wortham; daughter, Tanja Vowell (husband, Waylon) of Wedowee; three sons, Danny Morrow (wife, De) of Mexico Beach, FL, Jeremy Wortham (wife, Jennifer) of Roanoke, and Bryan Wortham (wife, Charla) of Wedowee; three sisters, Patsy Kitchens of Newell, Judy Thompson of Decatur, AL, and Stephanie Sheppard of Wedowee; four brothers, Clyde Wortham of Oxford, AL, Kenneth Wortham of Newell, Phillip Wortham of Wedowee, and Donnie Wortham of Newell.

Pallbearers will be Waylon Vowell, Christopher Morris, Jakob Vowell, Dustin Wade, Gavin Wortham, Caleb Vowell.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Wortham was born on May 6, 1952, the son of George Lowell and Jessie J. Nobley Wortham. Mr. Wortham retired from the United States Army. Mr. Wortham was Christian by faith and had been a member of Iduma Congregational Methodist Church. Mr. Wortham was preceded in death by his parents.
