First cousin Johnny was always a beautiful, sweet, kind woman ... the epitome of a graceful southern lady. May she rest in peace.

I was so deeply saddened to learn Monday night of Johnnie’s passing last Thursday. She helped me more than I could ever say, the years after I came to Wedowee. I don’t think I would have made it, had it not been for her. She was such a blessing in my life. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jimmy, Jon, Mia, and the grandchildren. I just wish I had known sooner of her passing. She was a beautiful person on the inside and out. May God comfort her family.

O God, whose mercies cannot be numbered: Accept our prayers on behalf of your servant Johnnie, and grant her an entrance into the land of light and joy, in the fellowship of thy saints; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

So very sorry about Mrs. New❤️ Don’t know if you remember us or not, but we are members at Lanett Congregational Christian where Mr. New served for several years. Every time William and I come through Wedowee we talk about all the special musical events he directed. All of your family was so talented and so kind to share your talents with us! Please give Mr. New a hug from the Harry Family❤️ Praying for your family as you travel this path. Much love, William and Jeanie Harry

Mr. New & Family,
Many of my childhood memories have Ms. Johnnie in them. Whenever I was at the house for piano lessons or at the high school with my dad, she always made me feel like a part of the family. It wasn’t too long ago that I called and when I told her who was calling, she said “I know who you are, David!” This is after probably 30 years time had passed from the last time I saw her.
I’m so sorry to hear that she passed, but I am so thankful to have known her. My family is praying for each of you.
David Morrison

What I have always loved the most about Aunt Johnnie is her wit. She had the ability to make you feel seen and remembered, even if our times together were separated by years. Her grace and smile are forever embedded in my memory. She is timeless. All my love to Uncle Jimmy and the family. Thinking about you all!
