Charlie Will Thompson Obituary

Funeral services for Charlie Will Thompson age 93 of Wedowee will be held Monday December 12, 2011 at 11:00 AM from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Cade Ferris officiating. Burial will follow in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.










Mr. Thompson passed away Friday December 9, 2011 at Wedowee Hospital.










Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 69 years Hazel Ward Thompson of Wedowee; one son Phil ( Denise) Thompson of Wedowee; three grandchildren Sarah ( Jon) White, Laura ( Phillip) Twilley and Jennifer Smith; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.










Active pallbearers will be Joe Thompson, Maxie Thompson, John Thompson, Bill Calhoun, Hobart McManus, Gladstone Prescott and Randy Green.










Honorary pallbearers will be James Kendrick, Joel Stewart, Ron Watters, Russell Robinson and Tony Heard.





Mr. Thompson was a Randolph county native born January 9, 1918 the son of Charles Matthew and Emma Moore Thompson. He was a retired Sheriff of Randolph County serving for 16 years. He was a member of Roanoke Masonic Lodge # 132 of F&AM for 60 years. He was a Baptist by faith attending First Baptist Church of Wedowee. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Edna Smith, Ara Calhoun and Mae Smith, two brothers Shelly and Woodrow Thompson.










The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home- Wedowee on Sunday December 11, 2011 from 5 till 8 PM.
