I worked with Wendell for many years at Delta Airlines. There are many found memories. He was a true gentleman from Tennessee. When I hear the Oakridge Boys sing I think of Wendell.
Our prayers and love go out to Shirley and family.

Wendell was my friend for 46 years. We rode motorcycles together when we were young and then again when we were older. Wendell not only taught me how to fish, he taught me how to catch fish. Later in life when we were wiser we talked about how to be fishers of men. We miss him now but know we will see him again. Our prayers are with Shirley and the family.

I was so sorry to see of Wendell's death. He and I were in school together in Oak Ridge from 1st grade on through high school and graduation. He had such a sweet spirit when I knew him and I'm sure that continued right on till the end.
Another classmate gone way too soon.
Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Wendell and I were friends from elementry through high school and vocational school at Knoxville,TN. As young people Wendell was "COOL". He had swagger in his step with the "Pegged" jeans and the "ducktail" hair. Four of us took turns driving from Oak Ridge to Knoxville and Wendell's 57 Chev. didn't have a heater. We had to stop occasionaly and scrape the frost off the "Inside" of the windows" I'm smiling as I write this and so many memories come rushing back to me. I am very sorry for your loss, he was a good man. A message for Wendell, Can I tell them about the time we were on the way to school, Ramond Sha*** was looking for something and opened the door which hit a mailbox, broke the glass and put a big dent in the door of your 57 ? You had it painted 3 days before. I love you my friend. Doug

Tell us it isn't so. We all lose friends and family but people like Wendell you never expect to lose. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him. What a contagious laugh and sense of humor. It has been my pleasure to know you over the years my friend. Until later when we can all meet and do it all over again.
